Counseling to Strengths: The Strengths Movement (for organizations and individuals)

This program will include the definition of Appreciative Inquiry, how it differs from traditional Organizational Development work, how it is applied, the OHR/OE experience with it, how it relates to identifying strengths in individual counseling, working with adults and students on strengths, use of strengths in multiple arenas of life, and the transition in thinking as we work with individual clients.

Pre-Health Learning Modules

The Health Careers Center at the University of Minnesota has used a group advisement model to serve pre-health students on the road to a wide variety of health careers.  This session will highlight three online learning workshops; Planning for Medical School, Interviewing for Health Professional Schools, and Writing a Winning Personal Statement to demonstrate new strategies for career coaching.

Darren will facilitate a reflective exercise by engaging CDN in conversation on the topics of: face-to-face networking, blogging, U of MN networking tools, RSS feeds, MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other networking resources. This session will examine the innovative ways we are using social media, as well as how we could use it more effectively when working with students and employers.
